22nd Armoured Brigade, late summer 1942

“In mid 1942 the 22nd Armoured Brigade used a fairly unique camouflage scheme designed by a CLY officer in which a darker colour – it was apparently a locally mixed brown colour – was applied over a lighter base (Light Stone or similar), with the brown camouflage tone being seperated from the base colour with thin Black and White lines. The scheme does not appear to be officially recognised or sanctioned, and may well have been found to be ineffective or quickly banned, as it was only in use for a short period of time.”  Warpaint, Volume 2, Dick Taylor.
